HS Clinical Study for Teens - Now Enrolling
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), or acne inversa, is a skin condition that causes painful bumps, boils and/or abscesses to form under the skin. HS usually appears in areas where skin rubs together, such as the armpits, groin, inner thighs, buttocks and breasts.
Waching your child experience HS can feel overwhelming. HS tends to begin after puberty and like many skin coditions can take a major toll on self-esteem and qualify of life. Currently, there is no cure for HS, but researchers are studying new options that may be able to help.
If you have a teen 12 – 17 years old living with HS, you may be interested in a new clinical study now being conducted at select US and Canadian centers. The study is evaluating an investigational oral medication to see if can safely and effectively improve symptoms of HS.
If you choose to participate, your teen will receive all study-related care and study medication at no cost. You may also be compensated for your time and travel to attend periodic visits to your local study center over an approximate 14-month period.
Why Participate?
If your teen (12 – 17 years) struggles with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), he/she may qualify for a new clinical research study. The study is for an investigational oral medication for HS, taken once daily.
If your child qualifies and you choose to join the study, he/she will receive:
- Regular evaluations of your child’s HS from a local physician specialist
- All study-related care and study medication at no cost
- Compensation for time and travel to attend study visits
- The opportunity to help advance hidradenitis suppurativa research to potentially benefit other teens living with HS
